KK Motorsport’s Kendall Knox Claims victory

Feb 11/2012 ) - Lindsay Ontario was once again the location of the CSRA Snowcross Championships. This time it was the Royal Distributing Cup, and Round 4 of the national point’s series. The event which normally takes place at Georgian Downs Casino in Barrie Ontario was moved to Lindsay due to conflicts with the Ontario Government.

The KK Motorsports team arrived Friday morning, to heavy snow fall and white out conditions. The new snow was welcomed by the whole team, as they prepared once again to be a top contender. Saturday morning Pro women rider Kendall Knox , who was still sour over her upset from the previous weekend, made it known that she wasn’t backing down and was there for victory. In moto 1 Knox launched her Woody’s equipped Arctic Cat at the drop of the green. Coming out of the first corner, Knox passed 2 riders to put herself into 2nd place position where she fought her way up to the race leader, and settled for a 2nd place. Moto 2 saw Kendall Knox once again push herself and her Auto Trim of Barrie Arctic Cat hard where she increased the gap between herself and the second place rider with each lap to easily clinch a 1st place finish.

Saturday Afternoon the Pro open racers took to the track, under the blue bird skies of Lindsay Ontario. KK Motorsports rider, Jeff Sanftenberg came out strong in moto 1 on his fresh Speedwerx open mod sled. Sanftenberg rode smooth and smart as he gained positions on the 10 rider pack with every lap to clinch a 4th place finish. Moto 2 saw Sanftenberg launch his RJ Motosport tuned mod sled at the drop of the green flag to grab a top 3 position in the first lap. Sanftenberg laid down smooth, consistent fast lap after lap to move past the Rockstar Polaris sled of Iain Hayden, to gain a 2nd place position where he rounded off moto 2. In the Saturday final, Sanftenberg struggled with the holeshot where he was left to battle his back from 9th place after one lap. Sanftenberg pushed his sled faster with every lap, choosing smart lines to gain time and positions, as his Speedwerx mod screamed past a different rider for 5 laps. With one lap left Sanftenberg caught up to the 3rd rider, where he pressed hard to make a pass, but had to settle on a 4th place finish.

Sunday morning brought more sunshine and blue skies, as it shaped up to be a great day of racing for both racers and spectators alike. Kendall Knox took to the track early where she rode a fast, and consistent race and grabbed a 2nd place finish in moto 3, which gave her 2nd lane choice for the Pro women final later that afternoon.

Sunday afternoon saw pro open rider Jeff Sanftenberg once again board his Speedwerx Arctic Cat to start his qualifying races. Sanftenberg rode hard and battled to a 4th place finish in moto 1, and 9th in moto 2 after getting tangled with another rider, which gave him 1 lane pick in the back row for the Sunday final.

As the day neared an end Knox and Sanftenberg prepared for their finals. Pro women rider Kendall Knox was up first as she boarded her Birch Point Marina/ Woody’s Arctic Cat. With nerves in high gear, and a large fan base there to watch, Knox turned her focus to the starter, and waited for the green flag. When the green dropped Knox launched her Arctic Cat with text book reaction time to grab the holeshot. From there the rest was history, as she ran away from the pack, to claim the 1st place victory, and the top spot on the podium, in what was Kendall’s first ever pro win. Pro open rider Jeff Sanftenberg closed out the weekend by finishing up in the top 4 in Sundays final, after just missing the 3rd place spot by a sled length.

KK Motorsports is extremely pleased and proud of the hard work and dedication both Sanftenberg and Knox have displayed so far this season, showing courtesy and professionalism both on and off the track, and being a good role model for the younger racers in the circuit that look up to them.

KK Motorsports and Jeff Sanftenberg head to Valcourt Quebec next weekend for the Grand Prix de Valcourt race event, while Kendall Knox has a 1 week break in the race action before heading to Sudbury Ontario on Feb 23-24th.
